How to play Minesweeper online

  1. Read each revealed number as the mine count in its eight neighboring squares.
  2. Use Reveal mode to open safe ground, or Flag mode to mark a suspected mine.
  3. Open every safe square to unlock the next challenge. A mine ends the current attempt.

Controls

Tap a square in Reveal or Flag mode. Previous and Next select a hidden square; the action button opens it or toggles its flag. Undo reverses a safe action or flag change. After opening a mine, use Restart. Hint derives a safe reveal or mine flag from visible clue counts without trusting your own flags.

A tip before you start

When a clue already has all its mines accounted for, the other neighboring squares are safe. If the number of remaining squares equals its missing mine count, those squares all contain mines. Later boards also use differences between overlapping clue groups.

What no guessing means here

Each supplied starting board has been solved using clue counts and subset deductions from its fixed safe opening. The guarantee applies to that opening; this game does not promise that every arbitrary hidden first-click position has a no-guess solution. Flags are your notes, and an incorrect flag is not treated as proof by Hint.

Twenty growing logical challenges

Boards grow from five-by-five to eight-by-eight, and the mine count rises from three to twelve. Within each equal-mine pair, the later board needs more work under the fixed deduction checker. The opening levels use direct count deductions, while later boards can need overlapping-group reasoning. Hints decrease from twenty to one.

Frequently asked questions

How does the game Minesweeper work?

Each revealed number counts mines in its eight neighboring squares, including diagonals. Use those counts to identify safe squares and open every safe square to win. Flags are optional notes; opening a mine ends the attempt. Minesweeper starts each board with a fixed safe area already revealed.

Is Minesweeper online no guessing mode free?

Yes. All twenty challenges are free with no ads and no download.

Do I need to flag every mine to win?

No. You win by opening every safe square. Flags are optional notes that protect marked squares from normal reveals.

Can a wrong flag make a hint unsafe?

Hint reasons from the visible clues independently of your flags. If it proves a flagged square safe, it can clear that flag and reveal the square.

Does Undo revive a failed attempt?

No. After a mine is opened, restart the same board with its original safe opening. Your unlocked levels remain saved.

How is progress saved?

Unlocked challenges, best scores and sound settings are saved in this browser when local storage is available. An unfinished board resets after a reload. Restart asks for confirmation and keeps your unlocked challenges.

Can I play on a phone or computer?

Use touch or a mouse, or focus the labeled action buttons with a keyboard. The board fits its game window and switches to a portrait layout on phones. Help opens in its own dialog, and full screen is available where supported.
