Number Search is a number search puzzle online where the targets are exact digit strings. Find each sequence as one straight line in the grid. A leading zero counts, and the order matters. How to play Number Search online
- Read the target list and keep every digit, including a starting 0. You do not need to add, subtract or calculate anything.
- Tap one end of a matching sequence and then the other, or drag between the endpoints. You can select the same correct line from either end.
- Strings run rightward and downward at first. Later levels add leftward and upward strings, then diagonals in all four directions.
- Find all listed strings to unlock the next level. Found targets remain visible with a + mark; a - means that target is still waiting.
Controls
Use a mouse or touch to choose endpoints. Arrow keys move focus; Enter or Space selects an endpoint, Escape clears the selection, H hints and U undoes. The Choose start / Choose end button works with the focused cell. Pause, Help, sound, restart and full screen are available outside the grid.
A tip before you start
Scan for the first two digits before tracing the rest of the string. A target such as 087631 must keep its initial zero. If the line is wrong, clear it and try another endpoint. Overlapping targets may share cells, so a green cell can still belong to a number you have not found.
Twenty boards with more to find
The grids grow from 8×8 to 13×13. There are four targets in Level 1 and one extra target in every following level, reaching twenty-three. Strings grow from four to six digits. The total target digits rise from 16 to 138, while grid size and permitted placement directions never decrease.
One occurrence per target
Every listed digit string appears in exactly one position across all eight directions on its board. No target is the reverse of another, and targets in each level have equal lengths. You can drag the verified line backward without reversing or changing the target itself.
Mistakes, hints and cancelled touches
An incorrect line does not erase found numbers. Leaving the grid during a drag, opening Help, resizing, losing focus or a cancelled touch clears the unfinished selection. Hint marks one remaining string. Undo restores the last find, even after completion; hint use is not refunded.
Numbers or words
Number Search focuses on numeric sequences and leading zeros. Its companion Word Search uses letters and real words. Both share straight-line searching, but keep separate puzzles, progress and pages.

Frequently asked questions
Can a number start with zero?
Yes. The targets are strings, not numeric values to calculate. For example, 087631 has six digits and its leading zero must be selected.
Can I drag from the last digit to the first?
Yes. Either endpoint order is accepted for the exact verified straight line. You cannot rearrange digits or turn a corner.
Why is a number still unfinished when some of its cells are green?
Different targets can overlap. Green cells show earlier finds, while each target gets its own + mark only when you select its complete line.
Does every level use diagonal lines?
No. The first five levels use rightward and downward placement. Levels 6–10 also use their reverse directions, and Levels 11–20 use all eight directions.
Can I play this number search puzzle online free?
Yes. All twenty levels are free. Complete each board to unlock the next, and revisit any unlocked level from the selector.
What if local saving fails?
A notice explains that progress lasts only for the current session. The puzzle remains playable; restarting or changing levels asks for confirmation.
