How to play Numberlink online

  1. Select a numbered endpoint and drag through neighboring squares to its matching number. Move horizontally or vertically; diagonal steps do not count.
  2. Keep each route separate. You cannot cross another line, reuse a square, branch, or pass through a different numbered endpoint.
  3. Release at the matching endpoint to commit the whole route. A released unfinished stroke is canceled. You may redraw a completed pair without disturbing the others.
  4. Connect every pair to finish. You do not need to fill the board, and any legal set of routes is accepted.

Controls

Drag with a mouse or touch. For keyboard play, use arrows to move focus, Enter or Space to start at an endpoint, then arrows to draw; reaching the matching endpoint commits the path. Next pair selects another endpoint. The on-screen direction buttons also work. U undoes a whole edit, C clears only the selected pair, H requests a hint, N selects the next pair, and Escape cancels an unfinished stroke.

A tip before you start

Look for narrow passages before drawing the closest pair. A short route can block a different pair that has fewer ways through. Leave room to reroute, and clear only the pair causing the blockage.

A connect-dots puzzle without crossing lines

Matching numbers and colors identify each pair. Draw through grid-cell centers using horizontal and vertical steps. All lines must stay separate, and endpoints from another pair cannot be used as shortcuts. The numbers help identify pairs without relying on color alone.

Twenty boards with growing planning demands

The boards grow from 4 by 4 to 7 by 7, with two through seven pairs. More endpoints compete for the same passages, so consider the other connections before choosing a route. Leave space for pairs that have fewer ways through, and reroute a line when it blocks another pair.

Empty squares are allowed

This Numberlink version asks you to connect the pairs, rather than cover every square. A longer legal solution is just as valid as a shorter one. You are not required to copy a single hidden answer or a suggested hint route.

Reroute, Undo and Hint

Drawing a replacement keeps the old route until the new connection is complete. Undo restores a whole completed stroke, replacement or Clear action. Hint searches around your completed routes and outlines one route that fits a complete solution. If the current routes block all solutions, it asks you to Undo or clear a pair. If its search limit is reached, it reports that uncertainty without changing your paths.

Saved progress

Unlocked levels, best scores and sound preferences save locally when storage is available. The current board and Undo history reset when you reload. Restart and level changes ask for confirmation. Hint use reduces the score and is not refunded by Undo.

Frequently asked questions

Do I have to fill every square?

No. Connect all matching pairs without crossing; unused cells are allowed.

Can I use a different route from the hint?

Yes. Every legal complete set of routes is accepted, including longer paths.

Is this connect-dots game free?

Yes. Play free online with no account, no ads and no download.

What happens if a touch is interrupted?

An unfinished stroke is canceled and completed routes stay intact. You can start that connection again.

Can I play using only the keyboard?

Yes. Move focus with arrows, start at an endpoint with Enter or Space, and extend the path with arrows. The matching endpoint completes it.
