How to play Shanghai Darts online
- Choose a seven-round CPU match or a three-dart challenge. In a match the targets run from 1 through 7, with three darts for each player at each number.
- Tap or drag to aim, then Start sight. Lock X fixes the horizontal position; Throw fixes the vertical position and releases one dart.
- Only the current number adds points. A single, double and triple of that number in the same turn wins immediately. Otherwise complete seven rounds and compare totals.
Controls
Tap or drag on the board, or use the arrow buttons and arrow keys to choose an aim point. S starts the sight, X locks horizontally and T throws. Escape cancels before release, H gives an aim hint, and U or Ctrl+Z undoes. Score & rules opens the turn log. Help, pause, sound, restart and fullscreen controls are available.
A tip before you start
After a correct first hit, aim at a different ring of the same number if a Shanghai is still possible. After a miss or a repeated ring, consider a triple for points. Three triple hits score more than a single-double-triple combination, but they do not trigger the instant win.
How to play Shanghai darts
This game uses the short seven-round profile. Both players start on zero. Round 1 accepts only number 1, round 2 only number 2, and so on through number 7. A single scores the target number, a double twice that number and a triple three times that number. Other numbers, either bull and darts outside the board add zero. For example, a single 4 and two triple 4s add 28 on round 4.
Three rings in one turn win instantly
A Shanghai means one single, one double and one triple of the current target in your three-dart turn. Any order works. The match ends immediately, even if you were behind on points; the opponent does not get a reply turn. Rings from different numbers or earlier turns do not combine. Three double 4s score 24 but are not a Shanghai, while single 4, double 4 and triple 4 also score 24 and win immediately.
Seven rounds against the computer
You throw first, followed by the computer, at each target. Unless either player makes a Shanghai, both finish all seven rounds. Higher total points win, and equal totals draw in this version. Missing does not halve or subtract from your score. The computer aims for missing rings while a Shanghai is possible, then favors triples for points. It has seeded aiming error; the turn log records its actual results.
Twenty challenges with faster timing
Each challenge is one three-dart turn with a named target from 1 to 7. The earlier rounds are a reachable zero-score setup, not additional rounds you must play. The goal is always a Shanghai, so a higher score made with repeated triples still fails. Sight speed rises at every level while the board bands keep their size, requiring more precise timing. Two optional hints move your aim point; you still time both locks.
Aiming and the impact you see
The illustrated board is interactive. Choose an aim point, start the moving sight and lock its horizontal and vertical positions separately. Those locks determine your dart's impact, with no extra hidden player error. The arrows adjust your aim in small steps. Canceling before Throw uses no dart; opening Help or pausing stops the sight. This is a simulated throwing game, not a score-entry app for a physical dartboard.
Shanghai the game and the 120 checkout
The round game and a Shanghai checkout share the idea of a single, double and triple. A 120 checkout commonly uses those rings on 20 in a double-out game, with the double last. Here the current target is 1 through 7 and any ring order wins. This page does not implement 301 or 501 checkout play. Longer Shanghai profiles can continue through 20; this game declares its seven-round profile before play.
Undo, restart and saved progress
Undo restores your throw and any following CPU turn, including the same CPU randomness and clock state. Used challenge hints remain spent. Restart repeats the seed after confirmation, while New match chooses another seed. Changing mode also asks for confirmation. Challenge unlocks, best scores and sound preferences save on this device when storage is available. Reloading begins a new turn or match rather than restoring unfinished throws.
Frequently asked questions
Must I hit the single, double and triple in that order?
No. Any order wins in this seven-round game, provided all three belong to the current target and occur in one turn.
Does three times the triple count as Shanghai?
No. Three triples add points, but the instant win needs one of each ring. In a challenge, repeated triples fail even though their total is higher.
What happens if my Shanghai ties the opponent's score?
The Shanghai ends the match immediately and wins regardless of the totals. A draw is possible only after both players complete seven rounds without a Shanghai.
Do the bull rings count in this version?
No. Targets are the numbered segments from 1 to 7. Both bull rings add zero on these rounds.
Can I play a full match without making Shanghai?
Yes. Finish three darts for each player at all seven targets. The higher final score wins; equal scores draw.
Does this connect to a real board or another online player?
No. It offers simulated aiming against a computer and solo practice turns. It does not provide camera scoring, connected dartboards, remote multiplayer or cash stakes.
