How to play Xeri online

  1. Choose a complete CPU deal or an open-hand study.
  2. Select one hand card and confirm with Play card.
  3. Capture matching piles, time Jacks and watch for lone-card bonuses.
  4. Finish the deal with more points; in a study, meet its guaranteed margin.

Controls

Tap or click a card, check the capture preview, then press Play card. Clear choice cancels your selection. Keys 1–6 select hand slots; arrows move focus, Enter or Space selects, P plays, H asks for advice and U or Ctrl+Z undoes a study choice. Escape clears the choice. Score & pile explains the current pile and scoring.

A tip before you start

A Jack clears a valuable pile, but spending it too early can leave you without a useful answer. In a study, compare the final score after every possible reply: a ten-point xeri is attractive, yet the remaining high cards and the three-point card majority can still decide the deal.

Six-card hands and one face-up pile

Xeri uses a two-player, 52-card profile. Each player receives six cards, then four cards begin the center pile. If that pile starts with a Jack on top or two matching top ranks, only those four table cards are mixed back into the remaining stock and replaced. The hands stay dealt. The nondealer starts each batch. After both hands are empty, six more cards are dealt to each player. Four batches finish the deal.

Match the top card or use a Jack

You may play any card from your hand. A matching rank captures the entire pile, including your newly played card. A Jack captures any nonempty pile. On an empty table, every card—including a Jack—simply starts the next pile. Suits do not need to match, and a matching rank buried under a different top card does not count. You cannot choose just part of the pile.

The lone-card xeri bonus

Match a lone card to earn ten extra points. A Jack matching a lone Jack earns twenty instead. A Jack taking another lone rank earns no xeri bonus. For example, a seven on a lone seven scores the bonus, while a Jack on that seven only captures the cards. This table allows the dealer's very last play to earn xeri. Other groups use a different last-card rule, so check the profile before comparing scores.

High cards, special cards and the majority

Each captured Ace, King, Queen, Jack and ten is worth one point. The ten of diamonds is worth one extra point, for two in total; the two of clubs is worth one. These card points total twenty-two. Taking more cards than your rival adds three points, but a 26–26 count gives neither player that bonus. Add the xeri bonuses after counting cards. The player who last captured a pile receives any leftover table cards, without an extra clearing bonus.

One complete deal against the computer

Full CPU deal mode keeps the rival's hand and stock order hidden. Captured piles stay closed until scoring, though both players can remember public plays. Computer choices and ordinary hints use the acting player's hand, public history and visible counts. The higher final point total wins; equal totals are a draw. New deal starts a separate session. This version plays one complete deal rather than a cumulative 151-point match.

Twenty original open-hand studies

Studies reveal both final hands and have no stock left. Reach the displayed final score margin against every legal reply. The first study starts with two cards in your hand, and later positions grow to five. Meaningful choices and the length of the best guaranteed plan increase through the set. Every position comes from an original shuffled full deal and a legal earlier sequence. The computer's study replies account for both visible hands.

Plan through the final capture

In an open study, look beyond the next bonus. A capture empties the table and forces the other player to leave a new card. That can create another lone-card chance—or give control back at the wrong moment. High cards carry points even without xeri, and the last capturer takes the remaining pile. Check the whole sequence before using your last Jack.

Hints, Undo and saved progress

Each study offers two successful hints. Undo restores the previous human choice and the following computer reply, while used hints stay used. Normal deals have no Undo. Completing a study unlocks the next; local storage saves unlocks, best scores and sound preference when available. Unfinished deals restart after reloading. Restart repeats a deal's shuffle after confirmation, and mode changes also ask before replacing the board.

Xeri and Pisti use different scoring

Both games capture a pile by matching its top rank, but Xeri deals six cards and counts all Aces, face cards and tens. Pisti uses four-card hands, different special-card values and its own last-play bonus rule. The two games retain their own tables and progress. Xeri here does not include partnership play, cash stakes or remote multiplayer rooms.

Frequently asked questions

Can I play the Xeri card game by myself?

Yes. Full CPU deal mode supplies a computer opponent, and the twenty studies offer open-hand planning exercises.

Does every Jack earn twenty points?

No. The twenty-point xeri bonus requires a Jack taking a lone Jack. A Jack capturing another lone rank or a larger pile takes the cards without that bonus.

Can the final card earn xeri?

Yes, in this table's selected profile. A matching lone-card capture on the dealer's final play earns the normal ten-point bonus, or twenty for Jack on Jack.

What happens if both players capture twenty-six cards?

Neither player gets the three-point card-majority bonus. Captured scoring cards and xeri bonuses still count.

Why can I see the rival's cards in a study?

Studies deliberately reveal both hands so you can reason through all replies. Complete CPU deals keep the opponent's hand hidden.

Is Xeri free with no ads?

Yes. The complete CPU deal and all twenty studies are free with no ads, account or download.
